Gold Coast is a city in the state of Queensland, Australia, located just above the capital city of Brisbane. It is mostly a tourist destination with its beaches, theme parks, nightlife and rainforest hinterland.
South Stradbroke, Woogoompah, Short and Hope Island are some of the more notable land masses of the mainly plainal land area with the Nerang River as the main water way in the area. The beaches here including Surfer’s Paradise, Broadbeach, Mermaid beach, Nobby Beach, Burleigh Beach and Burleigh Heads, Palm Beack, Main Brach and other popular surfing spots here are very prominent here. Further inland, the Fold Coast hinterland stands as part of the Great Dividing Range.
There are a number of theme parks located in the Gold Coast, Warner Brothers Movie World, Sea World, Dreamworld, Wen’N’ Wild, Magic Mountain and WhiteWater World amongst others. Village Roadshow Studios as well as Warner Brothers produce actively in this area of Australia since they both have studios in addition to their theme parks. At the same time, there are a lot of nature-based parks too such as the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Great Hinterland Walk, Laminton and Springbrook which are World Heritage rainforests as well as an extinct volcano and waterfalls too.
There are also plenty of hip hotels and restaurants in the area to explore due to the demand from the tourist crowd. The Palazzo Versace, Sofitel at Broadbeach, QT at Surfers’ Paradise, Bumbles on Budds Beach and Salt Grill which is run by celebrity chef Luke Mangan.
