Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, located on the west coast of Australia. Majority of the populated area sits between the Indian Ocean and the low coastal escarpment called the Darling Scarp; the area is called the Darling Scarp. The Pink Lake phenomenon is also found here in a number of lakes here such as the Lake Hillier and the Recherche Archipelago.
Perth functions as the business and government’s administrative centre and thus most of the important government buildings are found in the city such as the Parliament and Supreme Court as well as the residence of the Governor of Western Australia – Government House.
Many cultural buildings are also located here, such as the State Library of Western Australia, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Western Australian Museum, the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and the State Records Office.
